The Main Theatre is the oldest theater space in Mexico and America. It was inaugurated in 1761 with the staging First of all is my lady, by Rodrigo Suarez Company. In 1902 the building was damaged by fire and temporarily closed. Later it was remodeled and reopened in 1940 with the presentation of the play Who loves you?, By Blanch Isabelita Company. Subsequently, the site was restored by architect Miguel Pavón Rivero and reopened on November 17, 1960 with a performance of the Symphony Orchestra of the Conservatory of Puebla, under the baton of maestro Ildefonso Cedillo. Previous property restoration works were carried out as 1995, when a false ceiling was placed on the ceiling of the room.
