More of the characteristic talavera tile facadeses on Puebla de Zaragoza buildings, Museo Casa de Alfeñique at Calle 4 Oriente 416. The style of this building bears witness to the artistic taste that predominated during the period of its construction, when Baroque held a prominent place in Puebla society. The Casa del Alfeñique Regional Museum is the first museum in the state of Puebla, opening its doors to the public 05 May, 1926 Apparently the building was built as a wedding gift for a bride who had requested "a house of alfeñique," a type of candy from Spain common in Mexico during the colonial era. The construction dates to the 18th century and is the work of Antonio de Santa María Incháurregui. The first owner was Juan Ignacio Morales, a master blacksmith and grandfather of the Atlixco painter Francisco Morales Van den Eyden. After various owners in 1890 the House of Alfeñique was added to the assets of the private charitable institution Monte de Piedad Vidal Ruiz. In 1896, the Monte de Piedad Ruiz y Vidal would transfer the property to the State Public Charity. The building compliments the 1987 Puebla de Zaragoza UNESCO World Heritage Site designation.
