Along Juan de Palafox y Mendoza street several beautiful colonial houses can be admired. The Arronte House draws attention for its beautiful facade covered with bricks and tiles. The interior is beautiful with its patios and corridors with high ceilings, semi-circular arches, columns and rich ornamentation in plaster and mortar. The decoration, depicting acanthus flowers and masks, dazzle the visitor with a beautiful image of the colonial Baroque. The house is currently the General Direction of Libraries of the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP) (Meritorious Autonomous University of Puebla). The building has had several uses and has been severely modified since its construction in 1634. It served as residence, commerce and a restaurant, to name a few uses. It served as a hotel during the first third of the 20th century, when Manuel Arronte, who gave it his name, rented the building. Although the building has 3 levels, the third was added in the 20th century. Puebla Mexico DSCN2563
